Thanks for pointing me to "The Code of Hammurabi". It seems that Richard Stallman could have just referred to Hammurabi's code No. 6, and saved us all a lot of trouble:

"If any one steal the property of a temple or of the court, he shall be put to death, and also the one who receives the stolen thing from him shall be put to death."
