Nagasaki has so much sadness: the banning of Christianity in 1614, the ecological wasteland of Gunkanjima, the detonation of "Fat Man" in 1945.

Sadness permeates the cityscape.

But the modern city of Nagasaki has beauty too. For me the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims is a deeply moving and spiritual place. Anyone visiting Nagasaki should take an hour to experience it firsthand.

Throughout Nagasaki man's inhumanity to man is visible to all, allowing visitors more than a mere glimpse at history. World travelers who are set on seeing more than just architectural wonders, art museums and nature parks will find lots of interesting stuff in Nagasaki.
