For anyone thinking of following in Aaron's footsteps, Hachijo is home to a special style of taiko drumming, appropriatley called "Hachijo-daiko".

Large taiko drums can be found sitting in the corner of many establishments just waiting to be played.

Everyone makes their own music, and "marches to the beat of a different drummer".

This local custom is unique to Hachijo.
