First the earthquake, and its many aftershocks.

Then the horror of those helicopter videos capturing the final moment of panicked drivers unable to outrace the tsunami, being swallowed up, churned under, and swept out to sea.

And then the ensuing days when we all had to learn the difference between Sieverts and Becquerels, and whether we should use the government's 30km evacuation radius, or the US Consulate's 50mi evacuation radius.

March 11th is a sacred collective trauma.
