As you carefully note, poverty and crime are different topics which don't share the same space in Africa.

The interesting thing for me is how people without means are able to so ingeniously reuse discarded products, turning rubber tires into sandles, bottle caps into jewelry, and putting corrugated tin sheets into so many fascinating architectural uses.

And then there's the genuine beauty of the African smile, gleaming eyes, bright teeth, and smooth skin under the equitorial sun. Men laboring or taking a break, women taking such pride in their vibrant kitenge fabrics, and children doing what children do.
