As someone who studied atmospheric physics at OSU way back in 1979, I too have been discouraged by the public's general lack of interest in the details. But clearly 2023 has been a turning point for people the world over. We've been overwhelmed by well-meaning (but short on the science) writers trying to connect their personal stories to the bigger picture. Somehow they always end on a dour note.
Please continue to write encouraging articles about the regulations and innovations that show hopeful signs of making a difference. We need to support the leaders and investors who can make those possibilities happen. When the general public really knows what's what, they will vote at the ballot box for those leaders, and use their purchasing dollars to make those new technologies part of their lives.
