I have long been fascinated by languages — both human and computer — and by the ways they are structured and expressed in written form.
My professional work has repeatedly turned towards the creation of tools to support the use of domain specific languages: tokenizers, parsers, compilers, validators, and highlighters.
As a geographer, those computational tools have allowed me to create cartography that is simultaneously functional and artistic.
Naturally, my writing on Medium tends to explore the challenges I've encountered in these areas.
